Jim Cramer's Mad Money "Rigging the Odds: Making money off of the shortage in oil rigs"

Jim Cramers Mad Money Picks and highlights, plus Jim's Lightning round picks.

04/10/06

The lead segment for today's show was "Rigging the Odds: Making money off of the shortage in oil rigs."

High oil prices have renewed interest in Indonesian oil field exploration. The problem; however, is a lack of oil rigs. That's why Jim loves National Oilwell Varco Inc. (NOV). This is the best way to invest in high oil prices. This stock, Jim believes is worth at least $77 and at $66, then back up the truck.

Cramer's Stock Pick of the Week

NuVasive, Inc. (NUVA), focuses on minimally invasive spinal surgery. This is a baby boomer play on bad backs. This pick is about timing. They missed their numbers, but they have great growth potential. Since this is a small company, missing numbers isn't as important as it is for larger, more established company Jim notes.

Telco Turnaround

Avaya Inc. (AV) is a triple buy right because it is a dirt cheap stock right now. Their VOIP business is growing right now. They have a lot of cash, great gross margins, and they are buying back lots of stock. Jim suggests waiting until they report before buying a position in this hot VOIP stock.

General Communications

General Communications Inc. (GNCMA) is an Alaskan phone and Internet company, and Jim interviewed the CEO today. Jim says this is a buy and worth your investigation.
